Meisterschaft von Zürich – Favourites
Laurent Jalabert:
The experts say that CSC Tiscalis captain has a good chance for taking his second World Cup victory. A hilly route with difficult downhill is perfect for the all-round Frenchman.
Erik Dekker:
This Dutchman is taking the lead in the World Cup. He showed on the steep hill in the Hamburg race last Sunday, that he is one of the best one-day racers at the moment. Is Dekker the winner in Zurich he is almost sure to be the winner of it all.
Davide Rebellin:
The route is perfect for the light Italian. He still needs the great victory this year, and this can be in Zurich.
Francesco Casagrande:
Casagrande is maybe the substitute of Pantani on the rises. He is a great rider and he has a huge possibility to show that on the 12% rise at Pfannenstiel – the riders have to pass it six times.
Michele Bartoli:
The Italian king of the classics is in a good shape at the moment. He came out of the Tour in such a perfect shape, that it is possible for him to be a world champion later on this year. He is one of the major favourites for this race.
Oscar Carmenzind:
Beside his advantages of being on home ground Carmenzind has the victory in Liége-Bastogne-Liége to live up to. He is supposed to be one of the strongest outsiders.
